Uti Nwachukwu petitions police over rape allegation leveled against him by a Twitter user

Uti Nwachukwu petitions police over rape allegation leveled against him by a Twitter user

Uti Nwachukwu has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force demanding a full-scale investigation into the rape allegation leveled against him by a Twitter user.

Few days ago, a Twitter user claimed the media personality raped her in August 2017 and she shared a screenshot of a message from a user saved with the name "Uti 2" apologizing for forcefully having his way with her. The person behind the anonymous account also made some other claims.

Uti has now petitioned the police, demanding a full-scale investigation. He shared copies of his petition letter to the police on his Instagram page.
''I have today, June 5th 2020 filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police, demanding a full-scale investigation.

I don’t even know where to begin this from, or what words to use Because I’m angry, hurt and utterly disgusted; but these are feelings I’m now too afraid to express without being attacked for. •

I’m appalled that blogs now resort to reporting allegations made anonymously online, without according people the respect of a proper investigation. •

How do I defend myself against someone I can neither identify, nor address and still remain calm. •

As A STRONG ADVOCATE AGAINST RAPE, my immediate response is always to listen to the victim and let their voice be heard because too many have been forced into silence.

But what I never considered, and perhaps now I should, was how to do this if you’re the accused; and that’s where I find myself now. •

My position on rape REMAINS THE SAME, that it is a violent human rights scourge that no human being must ever suffer. •

And for this very reason, I refuse to be a part of anyone setting women’s voices back when they’re finally finding the courage to speak and are slowly being heard.

Which is why I’m dedicating myself to getting to the bottom of this, by pursuing these allegations to THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW; and I expect my accuser to do the same.

Although I’m hurt, I recognize that this is bigger than me.

My innocence when proven will hopefully deter others from destroying the many years of advocacy towards ending rape in our society.''

717 rape cases have been recorded from January to May 2020 In Nigeria

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has said that 717 rape incidents have been reported to the police across the country from January-May this year alone.

The IGP made this revelation while speaking with state house correspondents after himself, the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, and the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, met with President Buhari this morning over the increasing incidence of rape cases.

The police chief said 799 suspects have been arrested so far, 631 cases conclusively investigated and charged to court, and 52 cases are left and under investigation. He added that the COVID19 restriction is responsible for the spike in the number of rape cases.
''We are here to brief you on sexual and gender-based violence and the action that the government has been taking, particularly the Nigeria Police. It has come to the public knowledge now that because of the COVID-19 restrictions, we have a surge in cases of rape and gender-based violence. These are cases that are now coming up but we want to let members of the public know that, rape and gender-based violence have been there.
The law enforcement agents have been dealing with these cases, in most cases, members of the public are not aware of the actions that the law enforcement agents have been taking.
The Nigeria police so far from January-May 2020, we have recorded about 717 rape incidents that were reported across the country, about 799 suspects have been arrested, 631 cases conclusively investigated and charged to court and 52 cases are left and under investigation.'' he said

He called on rape victims to always ensure they report the matter to the police. According to him, remaining silent gives a perpetrator another opportunity to prey on his next victim

“It is a very wicked offense, it is very serious offense, it is very wicked of an individual to engage in rape or defilement. And there are a lot of causes, some are doing it for ritual purposes, some are doing it because they are within the family and they see the victims and have the urge to go into it and do it. But such people should not be allowed to go scotch free.
I am just to inform you that the government is doing something about it and you can see me with the ministries of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed and Women Affairs Development, Pauline Tallen.
From now onward, national partnership with every stakeholder is what we are going into now and not only within the country but within the subregion.
We have to partner with organizations that are involved in this. We know we have been working seriously with UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and other civil society organizations. So just to tell you that government is doing something seriously to curtailed this type of offense”’he said

Halima Abubakar has threatened to call out "some of your favs and billionaires" who are guilty of rape and are shaming women for speaking up now.

The actress weighed in on the current rape conversation going on after women like Uwa Omozuwa and Barakat Bello were raped and murdered while in places where they should otherwise be safe.

The death of both women and the rape of a 12-year-old girl by 11 men at different times in Jigawa has led other victims to speak up. However, there are those condemning them for speaking up now, long after their tragic experiences.

This angered actress Halima Abubakar and she took to Instagram where she threatened to expose some prominent people who are guilty of rape and are trying to silence women.

Halima said most victims are afraid to come out because these men "hide and intimidate and even block their income". She warned them not to push her to call them out.

She wrote:

STOP TELLING PEOPLE WHEN TO TELL THEIR EXPERIENCE.WE CALL IT TRAUMA!!DONT TELL ANY ONE , THE TIME FRAME TO COMPLAIN ABOUT RAPE.IF WE ARE GOING TO REPORT RAPE OR HARASSMENT.HALF OF THE MEN ARE QUILTY. DONT SHAME PEOPLE AND YOU QUILTY.BUT HIDE AND INTIMIDATE AND EVEN BLOCK THEIR INCOME.DONT LET ME CALL ,SOME OF YOUR FAVS AND BILLIONAIRES .EVERY ONE IS JUST INCONSIDERATE .FROM THE COMMON MAN TO THE HIGH AND MIGHTY. SHUT UP..........RAPE IS RAPE. DONT MAKE ME CALL YOU OUT....... ANY ONE WHO DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS MESSAGE IS A RAPIST TOO

Further to my last post, my team (legal and management) and I have reported the rape allegation leveled against me to the Nigeria Police. I want to implore you my fans, friends and family to kindly disbelieve any lies from the unscrupulous lady while the Police continue their investigation on the matter. I am more than certain that my innocence will vindicate me eventually. Finally, it is important to fight against false rape accusation. The implication of false accusation on the ‘falsely accused’ is grievous and causes mental, and psychological damages which can affect business and personal relationships. It will also deter rape victims from speaking up because of disbelief and stigma.
Thank you very much for all your calls, messages and well wishes during this period.'' he wrote

Waiting for a rapist to get rich before speaking out is an act of gold digging - Cubana Chief Priest

Waiting for a rapist to get rich before speaking out is an act of gold digging - Cubana Chief Priest

Popular socialite, Cubana Chief Priest has reacted to the recent social media campaign which has seen many people including the rich and famous being called out for rape.

In his Instagram post, the club manager stated that rape victims who wait for a rapist to get rich or famous before speaking out are gold digging. He also appealed to parents to teach their children how to speak up to ensure justice is served, because silence endangers others.

Cubana Chief Priest wrote;

Waiting For A Rapist To Blow Or Get Rich Before Speaking Out Or Reporting To The Right Authorities Is An Act Of Gold Digging N Dragging, Parents We Have To Teach Our Children How To Speak Up Immediately It Helps Authorities In Proper Investigation To Get Justice Served, Why Did It Take You So Much Time To Report What Caused You Severe Pain ?
To Be A Rape Victim No Be Hustle Or Pay Back, I Wonder Why This Recent Calling Out No Dey Reach The Poor Or Don’t The Poor Rape, Lets Be Guided How Can You Wait For Someone Who Raped You When He/She Was Poor To Get Rich N Famous Before Calling Him/Her Out Or Reporting To The Right Authorities, The Chances Of Getting Justice Is Low Because This Person Now Has Money N Fame And Delay Helps Destroy Evidence, Your Silence Endangered The Lives Of So Many People When You Let A Rape Case Slide Or Waste Time, Rape Is Evil It’s Best Tackled As E Dey Hot !!!!
#SayNoToRape Speak Out With No Shame There N Then Don’t Stress The Police, Judiciary N The Masses, Above All Don’t Risk Another Victim As You Wait, The Earlier The Better Rape Evidences Are Easily Determined By Physical Appearance Don’t Let That Heal Before You Speak

Busola Dakolo gives update on her rape case against clergyman Biodun Fatoyinbo

Busola Dakolo gives update on her rape case against clergyman Biodun Fatoyinbo

Busola Dakolo, wife of singer, Timi Dakolo, has given an update on her rape case against clergyman, Biodun Fatoyinbo.
Recall that in June 2019, she publicly accused the clergyman of violently raping her when she was a teenager and was worshipping in his church in Kwara state. She filed a suit against him but it was thrown out by the court.

In an update posted this afternoon on her Instagram page, Busola shared a copy of the letter she received from the police stating they have completed investigations into the case and have forwarded the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPP) for legal advice and further necessary action.

She alleged the Ministry of Justice has since received the case file for Fatoyinbo's prosecution but has remained silent.  She said her team has sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice over a month ago but no response yet.

Read the letter from the police sent to her and her post below
Busola Dakolo gives update on her rape case against clergyman Biodun Fatoyinbo

''It is now officially one year after since I came out and told the most important story of my life up until this point. That when I was a teenager, Biodun Fatoyinbo violently raped me. It wasn’t just me. In the media, on social platforms and in private, women have been sharing stories of how this man either destroyed their lives or tried to.

A lot has happened in that time: and my heart is glad that consciousness continues to be raised about the great evil that sexual abuse is, and how widespread it is, and how much women are at risk, and why we need to ensure justice for those who find the strength to speak out.

Awareness is victory. But we are pushing to another even great victory: Justice.

When the courts last year decided to rule in favour of the man who assaulted me, people were crestfallen. I understood.
What they didn’t know however is that before we even began, we had been prepared for a long haul battle that may take years because the Nigerian legal system isn’t wired to help sexual abuse victims get justice.

Today, I have a major update. The police has concluded its investigation. And handed over its report to the Ministry of Justice in Abuja for onward prosecution of Biodun Fatoyinbo. He clearly has a case to answer.
But there has been silence from the ministry. Silence. A loud silence!

We have written a letter but for over a month we have no response.

Instead, my lawyers and my family have heard about all manner of manipulation and foul play being attempted to stop the ministry from beginning prosecution immediately.
Or even to get the police report manipulated.

My name is Busola Dakolo, a survivor of one of the most horrific acts -rape. My voice will not be shut down. My case will not be silenced. I am thankful to those in and out of the police, the ministry and the corridors of power who have called in solidarity and to reassure me that they are monitoring the ministry of justice and that this pressure to bury the case will not succeed.

I am updating the Nigerian public because you all made my story matter. You joined me to say enough is enough. With you, this has been an easier process.'' she wrote

Instead of Raping, Watch P*rn And M*sturbate - Actress Amara Maduka

Popular Nollywood actress, Amara Maduka has shared her notion on the rape menace in the society today.
Amara
Nollywood actress and nudist, Amara Maduka has proffered a riveting solution to rape.

In a recent interview with NewTelegraph, the curvaceous actress, shared her thoughts on the notion that adult content contributed to the increase in rape cases.

“In my opinion adult contents has nothing to do with rape. As a matter of fact, rape would reduce if the society embraced adult contents instead of frown at it. It’s basic knowledge that mankind will always long for the forbidden fruit.

Because it’s a big deal, people are going to always crave it. But if it’s embraced and the men know that a woman’s body is just a body.

Everyone has one and it’s not a big deal to see a woman’s body because their sisters have one and their mothers have one, then they would see every woman as human and not an object. .

And whatever happened to m*sturbating? They have plastic v*gina now and they won’t burn in hell for w*nking when they’re h*rny, instead of raping they should probably watch some “adult contents” and m*sturbate. And all that aside, people really need to practice self control
,” She said.

Two teenagers from How Mine Secondary School have been arrested after they allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl at a community hall.

The teenagers reportedly gave her some sweets to buy her silence.

B-Metro reports that a family member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the two suspects were aged 14 and 15 years old.

Allegations are that the 15-year-old teenager master-minded the rape ordeal by giving the Grade Two pupil sweets and after that inviting the minor to a community hall to play.

When they got there he played with the unsuspecting child and after some minutes they were joined by his 14-year-old friend, the source said.

The publication also reports that a source close to the investigations said one of the rape suspects undressed the minor and the two then took turns to rape her.

After the act, the 15-year-old gave the minor more sweets so as to buy her silence, said the source.

The source said after the ghastly act, the minor bled and walked with difficulty. Her mother got suspicious when she saw her walking in that state and asked what happened to her.

She revealed to her mother what had happened. She was taken to How Mine clinic, where she was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), where she was examined and it was confirmed she was raped.

The minor’s mother reported the rape incident at How Mine police base leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

D'banj sues his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion

D

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D'banj, has sued his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion Naira.

In an initial lawsuit, D'banj demanded N100 million Naira from Seyitan Babatayo for "defamation of character" after she accused him of rape and demanded an apology through her lawyers.

Now, after all that has happened in recent times, D'banj, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome Chambers, has asked Ms Babatayo to pay N1.5 billion Naira.

N1 billion was demanded in damages "over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, obloguy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the Defendants' tweets and publication have caused the claimant."

N500 million was demanded as "aggravated, puniitive, and exemplary damages."

The suit also demanded that Seyitan writes D'banj "a letter of unreserved apology for the offensive tweets and posts".

D'banj's lawyers also prayed the court to grant "an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further publishing, tweeting or posting offesnive libelous statements."

Recall that a week ago, Seyitan released a statement detailing the timeline of her case with D'banj. She had initially posted a tweet denying that she was arrested on D'banj's orders. She also said she wanted to put everything behind her.

However, in the statement released afterwards, she said she was arrested and held for 24 hours after which she was released to D'banj's team who took her to an undisclosed location, denied her access to her family and lawyers, threatened her, took over control of her social media account, and coerced her to retract her statement.

On Thursday, July 2, activist Segun "Segalink" Awosanya shared a thread on Twitter where he said Seyitan was not detained by D'banj's team as claimed . However, today, he did a turnaround and stated that Seyitan didn't lie and that she was indeed detained but not "kidnapped" by D'banj's team as the "e-femists" claimed.

Below are documents from D'banj's lawyers demanding N1.5 billion from Seyitan.
