...as 98 gazetted villages in Ini LGA take delivery of 1,960 bags of rice
The Chairman of Ini Transition Committee, Hon. Inibehe Umah has charged village heads in Ini LGA to ensure equitable distribution of the Federal and State Government food palliative to their subjects.
The TC Chairman handed down the charge yesterday, July 29, when he distributed the rice donated to the citizens by the Federal Government in conjunction with Akwa Ibom State Government to cushion the effects of the hardship.
Addressing the village heads, Hon. Umah thanked the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for making the welfare of the people a priority. He further thanked the Governor for adding more 24,000 bags of rice to the ones earlier donated by the Federal Government, saying that the Governor is feeling the impulse of the citizens.
He emphasized the importance of equitable distribution and urged them to ensure that every villager benefits from the initiative.
"Today, we witness a remarkable effort by both the Federal Government and the State Government to support our people during these challenging times. This food must reach everyone in need, without bias or favouritism," Hon. Umah stated.
He also highlighted the critical role of village heads in managing the distribution process fairly and efficiently.
The TC Chairman donated two million naira to aid in transporting the items to all the villages.
Recall that the Federal Government recently distributed 24,000 bags each to all the states of the Federation, in which the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, approved an additional 24,000 bags to make it 48,000 bags to be distributed to the people with each village getting 20 bags of rice.
The initiative aims to mitigate the impact of food insecurity and provide relief to households across the state.
