A viral TikTok video has garnered over 3.5 million views after an influencer by name, Jerry Mal, ostentatiously flaunted a rather unusual beauty hack to grow one’s lips.
In the clip, he shows people how to easily get fuller and plumper lips using an erection cream as he applies it on his lips.
“Basically, I saw a movie where a girl put erection cream all over her lips and it made them really big, so now I’m going to try it. I forgot what film it was.”
“It kind of tingles. It’s not terrible, but we’ll see,” he says as he applies the cream on himself.
Normally, people go through clinically recommended cosmetic lip augmentation procedures to get what the influencer claimed works in minutes – most common being injectable dermal fillers.
Medics have called out Jerry Mal over his viral video that has seen thousands try to imitate.
But Jerry came through in his TikTok account and assured his followers his hack worked out for him and would recommend it to anyone who wanted to try it out.
“It’s been five minutes and they look bigger.”
“They definitely look a bit bigger, I kind of like it” he said despite rushing to take off the lip as his lips started stinging.
Medics say this method is dangerous – especially if the cream is consumed.
“I don’t know exactly which cream is being used in the video, but all erection creams work by using vasodilation, which increases blood flow to an area.
“Increased blood flow will lead to swelling of the area, and this lasts for about an hour. All the benefits of plumping will be completely temporary.
“These creams were not made to be ingested or consumed by mouth and it’s probably not safe to be consumed,” one doctor on TikTok called Derm Doctor quickly reacted on the trend.
