Has Computer Impacted the Nigerian Movie Industry

Until recently, application of computer technology in Nigerian movie industry has been minimal. Rising costs and the competitive drive for improved quality and unusual effects in filmmaking coupled with the decreasing costs and increasing performance of computers have opened the door for the expansion of computer applications throughout the industry. Computers are now beginning to have a significant impact, both directly in the creation of images and sounds and behind the scenes in the management of all phases of film production and handling. This paper follows a movie from its initial conception on through production, distribution, exhibition, preservation, and redistribution, surveying current and planned applications of computer technology and identifying areas requiring further research.
