Barcelona boss, Ronald Koeman says he hopes to see great football when Barcelona face Juventus in the UEFA champions league on Tuesday, December 8. When Koeman was asked about who is the greater of the two, he refused to be dragged into debate, but he said he anticipates seeing two “incredible” talents lock horns again in the Champions League.

Ronaldo will be returning to Camp Nou for that contest, after missing the first leg with Barca in Turin after contracting Covid-19.

Messi scored in the first leg, a 2-0 win for the visitors, and ahead of Tuesday, Koeman says there is little to choose between the pair when it comes to greatness.

“It’s fantastic that these two players have been so long at this top level in the world,” said the Barcelona boss at a pre-match press conference.

“They are the best players, in my opinion, in the last 10-15 years. Being successful all this time is incredible. It’s a great compliment to those players.

“They are different, but they have incredible stats about scoring goals, hat-tricks, about winning prizes.

“It’s not nice to say who is better because both are incredible, I admire both players because they gave us so many nice evenings with great goals, with great titles. Let’s hope we can enjoy them tomorrow night.”

Ronaldo, 35, has scored 13 goals in 15 appearances for club and country this season, but Koeman says he will not be paying special attention to only Ronaldo.

He added: “For us it is not an extra motivation because of an individual player.

“We always thought of this as an important match with two big teams meeting. The two teams are going to fight for first position in the group.

“It’s always important the best players are there. I think Cristiano Ronaldo is still one of the best, he always scores and always fights.

“Because of his daily work he is still in the elite in our sport. It’s a great compliment to him. Not just any player can do that.

“We have to defend well against him and when we have the ball that danger goes away.”

French referee, Stephanie Frappart will become the first-ever female official to referee a men's Champions League game when she oversees Juventus vs Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday, December 2.

The 36-year-old became the first woman to referee a major men's European match when she took charge of the UEFA Super Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea in Istanbul last year.

She also officiated the 2019 Women's World Cup final between the United States and Holland and became the first female referee to take charge of a French Ligue 1 match when Amiens played Strasbourg in April last year.

She oversaw her first Europa League game in October when Leicester City hosted Zorya Luhansk.

Juventus, who have already qualified for the last-16, are second in Group G with nine points from four games, eight points clear of Dynamo Kiev, and three behind Barcelona, who face Ferencvaros on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old forward is one of three people in the Uruguay camp to test positive for the virus alongside goalkeeper Rodrigo Munoz and team attendant Matias Faral.

The national team also confirmed that the trio showed no symptoms and that they have followed the corresponding measures.

"All three mentioned are in good healthy state and have already implemented the measures needed for the case,' the Uruguayan FA said on social media.

 - Dayot Upamecano is being trailed by Premier League club Manchester United

- Latest reports have it that Liverpool have also entered the race for the 22-year-old

- Jurgen Klopp’s side is plagued by injury problems and the manager has turned to the Leipzig defender

Dayot Upamecano has become a toast of several clubs as Liverpool have now joined Manchester United in the race to sign the RB Leipzig defender.

It was gathered that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now identified the player as a major target ahead of the January transfer window.

A wave of injury problems have plunged the Reds into major crisis and with the recent serious case of Joe Gomez while on international duty with England, Klopp is left with no choice than to haunt for another defender.

The race to sign Upamecano will be a very tough one as Manchester United are also desperate in signing the 22-year-old.

Despite the Red Devils thrashing Leipzig 5-0 in the Champions League recently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reported to be interested in the defender.

The Frenchman’s existing contract will run until the summer of 2023, but there is an existing clause in his deal that allows him to leave for £38million.

It will be the second time in recent history that Liverpool will be diving in for a Leipzig star, following their long-running pursuit of Naby Keita.

Also, Isak Bergmann Johannesson is on the radar of both Premier League clubs as both teams have entered a race to sign the 17-year-old prospect.

The Icelandic whizkid has been in sublime form this season which has generated waves of positive reviews as he is being poached by a number of clubs.

It was gathered that Johannesson is the son of Joey Gudjonsson - a former Aston Villa, Wolves, Leicester, Burnley and Huddersfield midfielder who was born in Sutton Coldfield.

 - Mohamed Salah had returned to Egypt during the international break

- The Liverpool forward has tested positive for coronavirus

- English FA has confirmed his status after he returned to his base

The English Football Association has confirmed that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah who initially went on international break has tested positive for coronavirus.

Salah’s development is a huge blow to the entire Liverpool squad that is already depleted following a number of injury cases that have plagued the club recently.

Confirming Salah’s coronavirus case, the English FA announced that the 28-year-old produced a positive result upon return to England.

He had returned home to Egypt ahead of the AFCON qualifiers and upon tests following his arrival in Cairo, Egyptian authorities confirmed that the player is carrying the virus.

The Liverpool forward immediately left the national team and returned to his base and upon his arrival, he was tested again and the result was positive.

The EFA said Salah is now isolating, and that he would be “subject to more checks in the coming hours”.

The player has been in dazzling form so far this season scoring 10 goals in 13 appearances so far.

It was gathered that he had attended parties, including a family wedding while in Egypt - as a footage showed him dancing with guests on more than an occasion and they were not wearing a mask.

A Brazilian politician has called for footballer Robinho to be jailed 'immediately' for his role in the alleged gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman at a Milan nightclub in 2013.

The 36-year-old former Manchester City and Real Madrid was convicted of rape in 2017, with a nine-year jail sentence handed down by an Italian court, but his appeal process with the Italian courts has been ongoing in the years since.

Robinho, who has repeatedly denied the charges, was suspended by his Brazilian side Santos just a week after signing for them as a result of the ongoing case.

The club said they want the player to 'concentrate exclusively on his court defence in Italy'.

Damares Alves, the Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights in Brazil, has now said the footballer should be jailed immediately because the alleged crime 'deserves no consideration' despite appealing the conviction.

Brazilian politician calls for footballer Robinho to be jailed

'Prison immediately, I have no more to say,' she told the media, as reported by Marca. 'There is still an appeal, but the leaking of the audios ... What more do you want? Prison. No rapist can be applauded.'

Alves went on to say that Robinho's remarks about the woman caused her nausea, and that he 'does not deserve any consideration'.

'The sensation of that caused me nausea, I wanted to vomit,' she said. 'It was fatal to read what I read from a player of his size,'

'That is a crime that does not deserve any consideration for the abuser, the rapist. We do not have to make concessions with this type of crime. He has to serve the established penalty, or there or here, immediately.'

The former AC Milan star has insisted that despite making 'contact' with his accuser, everything that happened at the Sio Cafe was consensual

A girl approached me, we started to have contact with her consent and mine too... then I went home,' he told Brazilian outlet UOL.

He also said that after leaving the club, his friends stayed with the accuser and had consensual sex with her.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has debunked report of some Super Eagles players testing positive for COVID-19 in Austria, ahead of their international friendly match against Algeria on Friday October 9.

Making a clarification on the report, the NFF said the writer misinterpreted what Coach Gernot Rohr said. It was gathered that Rohr said that four Super Eagles players had tested positive for the virus since the pandemic, but have since recovered.

The football body further disclosed that they are awaiting the result of the COVID-19 test carried out on Super Eagles players ahead of tomorrow's game.

The statement read;

News Alert.

Please discountenance any reports that some of our players tested positive to COVID 19 ahead of tomorrow's friendly game against Algeria. It is a blatant falsehood.

The writer of the story, who was not part of the press conference earlier today, totally misrepresented what Coach Rohr said that since the outbreak of the pandemic, four of our players had tested positive but were all now fully recovered from the virus and back in action. The results of the COVID 19 tests carried out on the Super Eagles ahead of tomorrow's game are still being awaited.
