French referee, Stephanie Frappart will become the first-ever female official to referee a men's Champions League game when she oversees Juventus vs Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday, December 2.

The 36-year-old became the first woman to referee a major men's European match when she took charge of the UEFA Super Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea in Istanbul last year.

She also officiated the 2019 Women's World Cup final between the United States and Holland and became the first female referee to take charge of a French Ligue 1 match when Amiens played Strasbourg in April last year.

She oversaw her first Europa League game in October when Leicester City hosted Zorya Luhansk.

Juventus, who have already qualified for the last-16, are second in Group G with nine points from four games, eight points clear of Dynamo Kiev, and three behind Barcelona, who face Ferencvaros on Wednesday.

The national team also confirmed that the trio showed no symptoms and that they have followed the corresponding measures.

"All three mentioned are in good healthy state and have already implemented the measures needed for the case,' the Uruguayan FA said on social media.

 - Dayot Upamecano is being trailed by Premier League club Manchester United

- Latest reports have it that Liverpool have also entered the race for the 22-year-old

- Jurgen Klopp’s side is plagued by injury problems and the manager has turned to the Leipzig defender

Dayot Upamecano has become a toast of several clubs as Liverpool have now joined Manchester United in the race to sign the RB Leipzig defender.

It was gathered that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now identified the player as a major target ahead of the January transfer window.

A wave of injury problems have plunged the Reds into major crisis and with the recent serious case of Joe Gomez while on international duty with England, Klopp is left with no choice than to haunt for another defender.

The race to sign Upamecano will be a very tough one as Manchester United are also desperate in signing the 22-year-old.

Despite the Red Devils thrashing Leipzig 5-0 in the Champions League recently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reported to be interested in the defender.

The Frenchman’s existing contract will run until the summer of 2023, but there is an existing clause in his deal that allows him to leave for £38million.

It will be the second time in recent history that Liverpool will be diving in for a Leipzig star, following their long-running pursuit of Naby Keita.

Also, Isak Bergmann Johannesson is on the radar of both Premier League clubs as both teams have entered a race to sign the 17-year-old prospect.

The Icelandic whizkid has been in sublime form this season which has generated waves of positive reviews as he is being poached by a number of clubs.

It was gathered that Johannesson is the son of Joey Gudjonsson - a former Aston Villa, Wolves, Leicester, Burnley and Huddersfield midfielder who was born in Sutton Coldfield.

 - Mohamed Salah had returned to Egypt during the international break

- The Liverpool forward has tested positive for coronavirus

- English FA has confirmed his status after he returned to his base

The English Football Association has confirmed that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah who initially went on international break has tested positive for coronavirus.

Salah’s development is a huge blow to the entire Liverpool squad that is already depleted following a number of injury cases that have plagued the club recently.

Confirming Salah’s coronavirus case, the English FA announced that the 28-year-old produced a positive result upon return to England.

He had returned home to Egypt ahead of the AFCON qualifiers and upon tests following his arrival in Cairo, Egyptian authorities confirmed that the player is carrying the virus.

The Liverpool forward immediately left the national team and returned to his base and upon his arrival, he was tested again and the result was positive.

The EFA said Salah is now isolating, and that he would be “subject to more checks in the coming hours”.

The player has been in dazzling form so far this season scoring 10 goals in 13 appearances so far.

It was gathered that he had attended parties, including a family wedding while in Egypt - as a footage showed him dancing with guests on more than an occasion and they were not wearing a mask.

It was however gathered that the former Chelsea star is asymptomatic as he has only developed mild symptoms.

He will be self-isolating and could return for Liverpool’s next game as the Reds will only return to action on November 22 when they take on Leicester City.

A Brazilian politician has called for footballer Robinho to be jailed 'immediately' for his role in the alleged gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman at a Milan nightclub in 2013.

The 36-year-old former Manchester City and Real Madrid was convicted of rape in 2017, with a nine-year jail sentence handed down by an Italian court, but his appeal process with the Italian courts has been ongoing in the years since.

Robinho, who has repeatedly denied the charges, was suspended by his Brazilian side Santos just a week after signing for them as a result of the ongoing case.

The club said they want the player to 'concentrate exclusively on his court defence in Italy'.

Damares Alves, the Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights in Brazil, has now said the footballer should be jailed immediately because the alleged crime 'deserves no consideration' despite appealing the conviction.

Brazilian politician calls for footballer Robinho to be jailed

'Prison immediately, I have no more to say,' she told the media, as reported by Marca. 'There is still an appeal, but the leaking of the audios ... What more do you want? Prison. No rapist can be applauded.'

Alves went on to say that Robinho's remarks about the woman caused her nausea, and that he 'does not deserve any consideration'.

'The sensation of that caused me nausea, I wanted to vomit,' she said. 'It was fatal to read what I read from a player of his size,'

'That is a crime that does not deserve any consideration for the abuser, the rapist. We do not have to make concessions with this type of crime. He has to serve the established penalty, or there or here, immediately.'

The former AC Milan star has insisted that despite making 'contact' with his accuser, everything that happened at the Sio Cafe was consensual

A girl approached me, we started to have contact with her consent and mine too... then I went home,' he told Brazilian outlet UOL.

He also said that after leaving the club, his friends stayed with the accuser and had consensual sex with her.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has debunked report of some Super Eagles players testing positive for COVID-19 in Austria, ahead of their international friendly match against Algeria on Friday October 9.

Making a clarification on the report, the NFF said the writer misinterpreted what Coach Gernot Rohr said. It was gathered that Rohr said that four Super Eagles players had tested positive for the virus since the pandemic, but have since recovered.

The football body further disclosed that they are awaiting the result of the COVID-19 test carried out on Super Eagles players ahead of tomorrow's game.

The statement read;

News Alert.

Please discountenance any reports that some of our players tested positive to COVID 19 ahead of tomorrow's friendly game against Algeria. It is a blatant falsehood.

The writer of the story, who was not part of the press conference earlier today, totally misrepresented what Coach Rohr said that since the outbreak of the pandemic, four of our players had tested positive but were all now fully recovered from the virus and back in action. The results of the COVID 19 tests carried out on the Super Eagles ahead of tomorrow's game are still being awaited.

Chart-topping rapper Kentrell Gaulden a.k.a NBA YoungBoy has been arrested on drug charges in his Louisiana hometown.

TMZ reported that the rapper was booked on Monday night by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office on 3 separate drug charges which include possession of schedule I drugs, manufacturing/distributing a schedule II drug, and manufacturing/distributing schedule IV drugs.

The rapper’s attorney James Manasseh said in a statement released on Tuesday September 29;

“Kentrell is not guilty of any crimes. There’s nothing in the report that indicates that he did anything wrong. They arrested several people and there was no indication that he had any guns or drugs on him at the time of the arrest. I ultimately believe he will be found innocent in all of this.”

It's unclear what led to his arrest, but a video shared on social media claiming to have captured the run-in with cops indicates it could've been a raid of some sort as the rapper was reportedly one of several people swept up and taken away in cuffs.

His recent arrest is coming after he was released from prison in 2019 after getting caught up in a Miami shooting while he was on probation for another case.

Lionel Messi has launched a fresh attack on Barcelona’s hierarchy for the way the club treated his close friend Luis Suárez after the striker left for rival club, Atlético Madrid.

The Argentine playmaker, who threatened to leave Barça last month and recently hit out at the club's president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s leadership, said Suárez was harshly treated and 'thrown out' of the club.

In an emotional goodbye post dedicated to Suarez, the club’s third-highest scorer of all time, Messi wrote: “I had already begun to imagine it but today I went into the dressing room and it truly dawned on me. It’s going to be so difficult to not continue to share every day with you both on the pitches and away from them.

“We’re going to miss you so much. We spent many years together, many mates, many lunches and many dinners. So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together.

“It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch. You deserved a farewell that fit with who you are: one of the most important players in the history of the club. Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level.

“You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore.”

On Thursday, an emotional Suarez said his goodbye to Barcelona and paid tribute to Messi after sealing a switch to Atletico Madrid. The Uruguay international had previously made it clear that he wanted to stay and see out his contract but was told by Barca's new coach Ronald Koeman that his playing days were over at the club.

Suarez helped the club win four LaLiga titles, four Copa del Rey crowns, and the Champions League in 2015. He scored 195 goals and provided 113 assists in 283 outings for the club before his exit.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille Serie A game ended is a complete chaos as Neymar and four other players were given red cards and sent off the pitch at the Parc des Princes.

On Sunday September 13, headlines of racism, spitting and red cards emerged from what should have been a footballing exhibition in the French capital.

Brazilian soccer star, Neymar was one of three Paris Saint-Germain players to get a red card after he slapped an opponent and then claimed he was racially abused.

Neymar was involved in a constant spat with Alvaro Gonzalez all evening. The Brazilian and the Spaniard then came head-to-head in stoppage time before Neymar clipped him round the back of the head.

Manchester United Head coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Harry Maguire will remain Manchester United’s captain this season despite his involvement in a Greek court case.

Maguire was given a suspended 21-month sentence last month after the England defender was found guilty of assaulting a police officer, swearing, resisting arrest and bribery during an incident in Mykonos island, Greece.

The incident was allegedly sparked after Maguire claimed himself, his family and friends were taunted and attacked at a nightclub.

Harry Maguire to remain as Man Utd captain despite police assault court case in Greece

Maguire, 27, has denied the offences and has launched an appeal which nullifies the verdict.

The nullified verdict means he has no criminal record and can play football until his retrial begins.

Following the original court verdict, Maguire was withdrawn from England’s squad for their recent international trips.

United boss Solskjaer, however, says he will not punish his centre-back by stripping him of the captaincy.
“He’s handled it really well and, of course, I’ll be here to support him,” Solskjaer told United’s website.
“He is going to be our captain. We’ll just leave Harry and his people and the process to run.”
“Of course, Harry, as you said, had a difficult summer. He didn’t have a long break,” Solskjaer said.
“His break was different to others as we gave him a few more days and, after, he’s come back and looked fine.
“For me, he is a top, an absolute top human being and has always been a positive guy with the right values. So I really hope we can see Harry performing at his best.”

Maguire joined United for £80 million ($102 million) from Leicester, making him the world’s most expensive defender.

Covid-19: 'Football without fans is like a circus without clowns' - Cristiano Ronaldo

Soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo, has compared football without fans to going to a circus and not seeing clowns after he scored both goals in Portugal's 2-0 win over Sweden on Tuesday night, September 9 but had no fans to celebrate with him.

The match against Sweden was played behind closed doors as the Coronavirus pandemic means fans cannot attend games in most regions across Europe,

Ronaldo, now the second highest goalscorer in international football with 101 goals, described the lack of supporters as a crucial missing piece of the football game.
"There is no need to regret, when I do something I like to be whistled because it gives me chills. But health comes first, if the WHO says that these aren't safe conditions, that's it. The most important thing is the human being," Ronaldo told RTP post-match.
"Playing without fans is like going to the circus and not seeing clowns," the 35-year-old said.
"It’s like going to the garden and not seeing flowers."

Portugal have now won both of their Nations League matches and sit top of group three in league A with a goal difference advantage over France .

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy has been stolen from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) headquarters in Cairo.

Former Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Vice-president and current ONTime Sports broadcaster, Ahmed Shobir, confirmed the Africa Cup of Nations trophy disappeared from the headquarters of the EFA.

"The EFA started looking for some trophies as they aim to put them in a notable museum inside the EFA," Shobier said.

"However, the EFA was surprised to find that the AFCON trophy was lost and decided to open an investigation.

"They were informed by an employee inside the association that it was held by former Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan who refuted this claim. Nobody knows where is the trophy at the time being."

According to Hassan, he kept the trophy at home after winning the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2010 and gave the trophy back to the Egyptian Football Association in 2011.

'He has earned the right to decide his future' - Sergio Ramos shares his thoughts on Lionel Messi's desire to leave Barcelona

Real Madrid captain and defender, Sergio Ramos, believes Lionel Messi has earned the right to decide his future, but he would like for the Barcelona forward to stay in Spain.

Messi shocked the football world last month after handing in a transfer request at Barcelona a club he has been at since he was 13.

He has since failed to report for training, saying he doesn't consider himself a part of Ronald Koeman's squad

Ramos, who has faced Messi in El Clasico for the past 15 years, questioned Messi's approach towards the contract situation.

Speaking during a news conference with the Spain national team, Ramos said: "He's earned the right to decide his future, but I don't know if it's the best way.
"For Spanish football, for Barcelona and for us, we'd like him to stay. Leo makes the Spanish league, his team and the Clasicos better.
"You always like beating the best and he's one of the best in the world."

Ramos' comments come after Messi's father who is also his agent arrived in Spain for crunch talks with the Barcelona hierarchy on Wednesday September 2.

Messi's dad wants to resolve the impasse between player and club over the forward's contract situation.

On Wednesday morning, Jorge Messi conceded it is "difficult" his son will stay at Barcelona when asked by Spanish television programme El Chiringuito as he arrived at the Fundacion Leo Messi for talks.

However, he said that "there is nothing yet" in terms of a possible move to Manchester City and that he had not spoken to Pep Guardiola.
