Musa Mustapha, a Nigerian boy has emerged atop his peers as far as boys cadet table tennis is concerned.

In a recent released by International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Musa, 11, garnered a total of 128 points to top the ranking in the boys U-11 cadet category, according to Premium Times.

SportingLife reports that the young prodigy came first after getting 128 points. He is also ranked 17th in the U-13 category with his brother rated in 18th place.

Musa’s feat makes him the second African and first Nigerian to top the world ranking following the success of Hana Goda in 2020 where she was ranked the best U-15 female in the world.

The Al-Faizun Junior Academy student – who was part of the Nigerian star team that won the 2019 ITTF Junior Circuit in Ghana – is billed to be part of the World Youth Series (which replaced the ITTF World Junior Circuit) taking place later this year in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana.

The young lad had made his senior debut for the country in the 2018 Nigeria Open in Lagos.

Nigeria has overtaken the Democratic Republic of Congo with 25 percent of people without access to electricity, making it the country globally with the highest number of citizens that lack access to power.

World Bank Group Practice Manager, West and Central Africa Energy, Ashish Khanna, disclosed this in his presentation during a virtual engagement with power reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, April 21. 

According to him, “Nigeria now has the largest number of unelectrified people globally and the trend is worsening; of the electrified, the supply is very unreliable with widespread blackouts. 

Electrification, which was growing at 1.1% yearly since 2010, has not kept pace with the population growth of 3% yearly. This has increased the deficit by 3 million people to 85m which is 57% of the population. Nigeria now has 25% more unelectrified people than the 2nd most unelectrified country (DRC – in absolute terms).

The power sector is operationally inefficient with unreliable supply exacerbated by high losses and lack of payment discipline. Businesses in Nigeria lose about $29 billion annually because of unreliable electricity while Nigerian utilities get paid for only a half of electricity they receive.”

Miss Folashade Salako, the best graduating student in the department of Pharmacy in 2019 from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has died after sustaining head injury in a car crash. 

According to reports, Folashade, who won the maiden Shalina’s international Young Pharmacist Award as the best graduating student, died on Wednesday, April 21. 

It was gathered that she died during an operation at University College Hospital (UCH), in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Having recorded three dead this month of April, A media Personnel of the school Richie Jim on Facebook made a post seeking for the help of God as they record another Dead which makes it four dead.

Richie in his post say;

Again we've lost another student from the department of Science Laboratory Technology. 💔

Comr. Akpan Aniesuk Nse Until her death was an ND1 Students of Science Laboratory Technology 2019 Session, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic.

A 200-level student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Adedeji Emmanuel, has reportedly committed suicide.

The Chief Security Officer of the school, Babatunde Oyatokun, in a statement on Tuesday evening, April 20, said Emmanuel died after he took a poisonous substance. He was said to have left a suicide note.

Although it’s unclear why Emmanuel took the decision, some sources close to him revealed he has been battling depression after a failed business deal.

A young Nigerian man, Damilola Oduolowu has taken to microblogging platform, Twitter to search for a lady that acted as a bridesmaid alongside himself who acted as a ringbearer at a wedding in Oyo state 26 years ago.

Damilola said he and the little girl who is now a grown lady, met at his uncle’s wedding and he never saw her again after the event.

He shared throwback photo of themselves from the wedding over two decades ago and said he would like to see the lady, what she looks like and what she is up to.

"26 years ago, this beautiful girl (Erioluwa) & I, were little bridesmaid and ring bearer at my Uncle’s wedding in Oyo town (can’t remember the specific church) and our paths never crossed again since then.

Every now and then, I come across this picture and wonder where she could be and what she’s up to now. I just climbed the third ladder #TheBig30 today and sincerely wish to find her!” he wrote.

Some netizens offered suggestions on how he can locate her, while others gushed over the idea that it could blossom into a love story if he eventually finds her.
