25-year-old Washington Mahura is reported to have raped his co-tenants daughter. Washington Mahura was taken to court on Monday on charges of raping an underage girl. His case was brought before Harare Magistrate Judith Taruvinga.
The girl whose age was not disclosed was invited to Washington Mahura’s place and it was there where she was taken advantage of. Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that the accused invited the tenant’s daughter to his place and locked the room without her noticing.
According to local publication H-Metro, the two are said to have watched videos on the accused’s phone when the accused started undressing his clothes, caressing her and forcefully took off her pants, and raped her once.
After a fight and a scuffle to free herself from Mahura, the underage girl was finally let go. The victim screamed until Mahura was forced to let her go, fearing her scream might attract the invasion of neighbors. The accused Washington Mahura was not asked to plead to his crime and the case was referred to the high court for bail consideration. Washington Mahura is reported to be facing a third schedule offence.
Washington Mahura was remanded to the 9th of November 2020.
